Onward Living’s Wheatfields development in Whitefield, Bury, has been named as a finalist in a major award that recognises organisations that have made a significant contribution to the region’s housing sector.

Wheatfields has been shortlisted in the Best Affordable Housing Development (£5m – £15m) category at this year’s Northern Housing Awards, the second year running that an Onward Living development has been nominated in this category.

The development, which was built on the site of the former Wheatfields Day Centre, offered 30 two and three-bedroom apartments, bungalows and houses for Shared Ownership and affordable rent.

The annual Northern Housing Awards, launched in 2018, celebrate innovative affordable housing providers, projects and services that help to create communities in the North of England.

The winners will be announced at a prestigious evening ceremony on Thursday 1 May at Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester.

The annual event is attended by around 750 people from registered providers, local authorities, housing contractors, professionals, consultants, and charities.
